‘Winning the title with Celtic is like winning an egg race!’
Securing European football with Crystal Palace is a bigger achievement than winning the Scottish Premiership title with Celtic.
That is the view of talkSPORT co-host Jason Cundy, who has claimed that steering the Bhoys to the title is like ‘winning an egg race’.
Cundy’s comments come after news emerged that Eddie Howe was on the verge of landing the Parkhead hot seat after holding talks with Celtic in London on Thursday.
The 43-year-old, who left Bournemouth last year after they were relegated to the Championship, looks set to succeed Neil Lennon in Glasgow.
Speaking about Howe’s managerial options, Cundy said: “I think the club that he needs is Palace. For him personally I think that’s a better job.
“Where do you go from Celtic? Name the manager who have gone from Celtic to manage a big club?
“Brendan [Rodgers] has gone to Leicester and done a fabulous job, but where do you they go after that?
“Crystal Palace is a nice project, winning at Celtic is like winning an egg race.
“If you get Palace into European football, that’s a bigger achievement then winning the title with Celtic.”
Howe worked miracles at Bournemouth, taking the south coast club from League Two oblivion to the Premier League over two spells.
And Jamie O’Hara disagreed with the talkSPORT host, writing on social media: “I have to say after my Bournmouth shout and seeing what Gerrard has done in Scotland I have to disagree with this, Celtic and Rangers are huge and the fans worldwide I didn’t realise how big they were, Rodgers went from Liverpool to Celtic he wouldn’t of gone to palace.”
The Hoops have been looking for a new boss since Lennon resigned in February, before Old Firm rivals Rangers stopped them winning a 10th successive Scottish Premiership title.
